Senior Software Engineer, C++ Onboard Logging

Meet the team:
We’re searching for a Senior level Software Engineer to come and join the Runtime Infrastructure (RI) - Logging team at Latitude AI. As a Senior Software Engineer within the Logging group at Latitude AI, you will be responsible for delivering, and maintaining the onboard and offboard Logging systems that run as part of our advanced driver assist system. This work includes developing high performance IO driven software development in a resource constrained operating environment.
The goal of the RI team is to provide infrastructure support to the rest of the development team by providing world class tools and features to the runtime infrastructure while also collaborating closely with stakeholders to understand and service their unique needs. Latitude AI is team centric organization and the RI team is an integral part of that team providing features to enhance development while at the same time providing a reliable, stable and safe system which stakeholders can count on. You will be an integral part of the team collaborating closely with other parts of the Latitude AI organization with experts in machine learning, prediction/planning, sensor processing, and simulation helping to optimize their development and speed their time to delivery.
As a Senior Software Engineer, your skills will be utilized to lead project initiatives to further enhance the overall advanced driver assist system. Your organizational skills will help in the planning and execution of software development and your experience will be utilized to assist other team members where needed.
What you’ll do:
- Design, develop, and test onboard and offboard logging software
- Design & develop high performance onboard systems that make efficient use of onboard resources
- Design & develop economical, performant, scalable, and easy to use offboard logging data transformation systems
- Architect systems that strike a balance between performance and usability requirements
- Develop tools and metrics for providing insight into the performance of the systems
- Participate in the development and implementation of software safety requirements
- Understand, debug and solve for system level optimization and improvements
What you'll need to succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field and 4+ years of relevant experience (or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or PhD)
- Design, develop, and test onboard and offboard logging software
- Design & develop high performance onboard systems that make efficient use of onboard resources
- Design & develop economical, performant, scalable, and easy to use offboard logging data transformation systems
- Architect systems that strike a balance between performance and usability requirements
- Develop tools and metrics for providing insight into the performance of the systems
- Participate in the development and implementation of software safety requirements
- Understand, debug and solve for system level optimization and improvements
Nice to have:
- Experience with performance optimization at the system level
- Software Architecture Development
- System Architecture Development
- API Development
- Familiarity with ISO 26262 and/or other software safety standards
- Familiarity with io_uring, DirectStorage or similar high performance storage APIs
- Developing software targeting RDMA systems such as InfiniBand
- Familiarity with a real time operating systems
- Experience with developing massively scalable solutions that employ cloud based data storage systems efficiently

The expected base salary range for this full-time position in California is $179,200 - $268,800 USD. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Latitude employees are also eligible to participate in Latitude’s annual bonus programs, equity compensation, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
Candidates for positions with Latitude AI must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is available for this position.
