Job Title: IT Infrastructure Technical Writer

Location: Ann Arbor, MI - Onsite

Duration: 6+ months Contract

Job Description:

Key responsibilities:

• 8+ years of experience in technical documentation, including user guides, API documentation, system specifications, troubleshooting guides, release notes, and online help content for IT infrastructure and applications.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, quality assurance, and customer support teams to gather information and ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
• Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand content for various audiences, including technical and non-technical users.
• Structure and organize information logically for easy navigation and comprehension.
• Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect new features, changes, and industry standards.
• Work within software development lifecycles (SDLC) and agile development methodologies.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in technical writing, preferably within the IT industry, demonstrating the ability to document technical products and procedures effectively.
• Ability to quickly learn and understand complex IT concepts, systems, and software.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Proficiency in documentation tools and software such as: Microsoft Word, Confluence, Adobe FrameMaker, or other relevant tools.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and individuals.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with specific IT infrastructure components or application domains relevant to the company's focus (e.g., cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP; cybersecurity; networking).
• Experience with Agile documentation practices.
• Familiarity with UX design principles and how they relate to technical documentation.
• Knowledge of SEO and content strategy principles for online documentation
