Data Scientist

- Designs and leads development of the data model and infrastructure, with a focus on scalable, secure, and interoperable solutions.
- Designs advanced workflows for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) clinical data utilizing FHIR protocols?to capture core clinical variables across heterogeneous EHR systems.
- Ensures seamless integration of new data sources with existing warehouse structures and optimizes data pipelines for high performance and functionality.
- Establishes rigorous processes for data acquisition, validation, integration, and storage from multiple sites, ensuring data harmonization across varied clinical systems.
- Applies sophisticated machine learning and predictive analytics methods to generate actionable insights and support population health management.
- Plan, conduct and supervise assignments involving multiple or one project.
- Review progress and evaluate results. Schedule and supervise project work. Evaluate progress and results and recommend changes in procedures as needed.
- Exercise authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities.
- Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
- 5-8 experience in managing data from complex, relational databases, preferably within the healthcare environment.
- Proven expertise in extracting, transforming, and harmonizing EHR data using APIs specifically utilizing FHIR standards and other healthcare interoperability protocols.
- Significant familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, ICD/LOINC codes, REDCap, Epic/Clarity preferred).
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with Git-based version control workflows.
- Familiarity with Linux-based server environments.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work effectively, and make sound technical decisions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills that bridge various stakeholders to establish trusting relationships.
