We're currently hiring a Maintenance Technician to join our team to support multiple locations in the suburban Detroit area (Royal Oak, Canton, Plymouth, and Ypsilanti). If you're hands-on, take pride in your work, are self-motivated and enjoy being part of a community-focused company, we'd love to meet you!
Hours: 5 consecutive 8-hour days between Monday and Saturday based on business needs. In addition, the candidate will be subject to an on-call schedule to cover evening and weekend requirements.
The job requires travel between locations and the candidate must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation. Mileage is reimbursed.

What You'll Do:
As a Maintenance Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining the overall appearance and functionality of the community. In a nutshell, you'll:
Perform routine and preventive maintenance across assigned properties
- Diagnose and repair issues related to:
- Plumbing
- Electrical systems
- HVAC (basic troubleshooting)
- Carpentry and general building repairs
- Appliances
- Complete work orders in a timely, professional manner
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed
- Assist with unit turnovers, including painting, repairs, and fixture replacements
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance inventory
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes
- Provide excellent customer service to residents and tenants
- Communicate effectively with property managers and team members
Other duties may include:
- Keep property in top-notch condition. This involves maintaining the cleanliness of the grounds including the lawns, sidewalks, parking areas, breezeways, stairwells and common areas.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, snow removal, and light landscaping
- Assist in the preparation of apartments and common areas for inspections, tours, and resident events
- Assess property safety and cleanliness standards and report any safety hazards, property damage, or maintenance concerns to the maintenance team or supervisor
- Distribute notices, flyers, and other communications from the management office to the residents as directed.
- Maintain a professional appearance while being courteous and having a helpful demeanor with owners, residents, prospective residents, coworkers, vendors, etc.
- Perform all other duties assigned
What You'll Need to Succeed:
We're looking for someone with a solid foundation in maintenance and a willingness to grow. Ideally, you bring:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1+ years of work experience in property maintenance or related field
- A valid driver's license
- Effective communication skills-able to interact professionally and clearly, both verbally and in writing
- A positive attitude, reliability, and a team-first mindset are just as important as technical skills
- Can frequently lift and carry up to 45 lbs, occasionally lift and carry up to 80 lbs, push and pull appliance dolly up to 200 lbs, move objects from one floor to another, frequently bend/stoop, climb stairs, kneel, balance, reach above shoulder height, walk and twist and have a normal range of vision, hearing and speech.
- Position will require working on-call hours, as scheduled or as necessary.
- Ability to work outdoors all year around which can include inclement weather - heat, cold, rain and snow
