The Engineering Lab Technician will play a crucial role in supporting new product project engineers, application engineers, and occasionally the quality department. This hands-on position involves setting up and running test equipment, selecting appropriate fixtures, and ensuring accurate testing through the use of data sheets and standard work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Manage and complete requested caster and wheel testing.

• Conduct testing to industry standards and fulfill customer and quality department requests.

• Maintain and improve the test lab and testing equipment, ensuring calibration schedules are maintained and preventative maintenance is performed.

• Develop new testing equipment and fixturing as needed.

• Convert customer testing requirements into equivalent testing using current equipment to approximate actual results.

• Stay updated on current industry standards requirements.

• Create detailed records for tests, including test parameters and performance.

• Provide summarized reports based on basic analysis of testing results and maintain test report standards.

• Develop and maintain lab test scheduling and status communication processes.

• Identify opportunities for automated data collection and analysis, proposing and implementing solutions.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of experience working in a testing environment.

• 1 year of experience with measurement tools such as calipers.

• 1 year of experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

• CMII or CM II Certification.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate Degree in General Tech (highly preferred).

• Exposure to CM II or CM II Certification.

Work Environment

The company is a fast-paced manufacturing environment, reporting directly to two Lab Engineers and working closely with the Product Engineering team. The typical workweek is 40 hours, starting from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The technician will benefit from 10 days of PTO and 6 standard holidays. After 6 months, access to Udemy is provided to enhance skills. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Joseph, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
