Senior Software Engineer - OCI Virtual Networking Data Plane

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Member of Technical Staff (IC3) to join our team building Tier-0 virtual networking dataplane services (Internet Gateway/ Dynamic Routing Gateway). You will design, develop, troubleshoot, and operate highly distributed, low-latency systems that power OCI networking at massive scale. We're looking for engineers with strong systems fundamentals and an interest in high-performance data paths, scalable data planes, and low latency packet processing. If you're excited by building robust distributed platforms, optimizing for reliability and performance, and owning services end to end, this is the role for you.

Responsibilities

Are you interested in building cloud-scale infrastructure from first principles and being part of a world class development team? Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure team is building second-generation Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment.

We're looking for hands-on engineer who enjoys solving interesting and challenging problems in high-performance distributed systems. Our group builds massively scalable, highly available virtual networking services that connect customer resources in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to internal and external networks and services. Few examples of our services are Internet Gateway (IGW), and Dynamic Routing Gateway (DRG).

As a Senior Member of Technical Staff, you will design, implement and operate components of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. If you're curious and excited to own and manage a high-impact piece of the cloud, you'll fit right in with our group.

Requirements:

• At least 3-5 years of software development experience with C, C++ or Go

• Working knowledge of Python or other scripting language

• At least 1 year of experience in Terraform development.

• Understanding of data structures and algorithms and ability to optimize those to support high scale architectures

• Working familiarity with network virtualization, network protocols and distributed systems

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test-driven development

• Strong understanding of IaaS/SaaS concepts and best practices

• Excellent troubleshooting, debugging and performance tuning skills

• Ability to contribute individually as well as provide direction and mentor others

• BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area

Bonus Qualifications:

• Proficiency with networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, and MPLS

• Strong data structures, algorithms, or systems background

• Knowledge of software engineering best practices, source control, build, testing processes, and operations

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,200 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
