Heavy Equipment Field Technician
Field Service Technician Heavy Equipment Location:Holt, Michigan Company: Southeastern Equipment Company, Inc. Job Type: Full-time | Non-Exempt Travel: Minimal approximately 15 days per year for meetings and training Reports To: Operations Manager or Service Manager NEW FIELD TRUCKS ARE ON ORDER! About the Role Southeastern Equipment Company is seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment at customer job sites. This position requires a high level of mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. Why Work with Us Mission-Driven: Our goal is simplehelp our customers win Core Values: Hustle, Thoughtful, Passionate, Customer-Focused Supportive Culture: Team-based, respectful, and results-oriented Growth Opportunities: Ongoing technical training and advancement potential Stability: Join a respected name in the construction equipment industry Key Responsibilities Diagnose and Repair Equipment Perform field repairs and maintenance in a safe, timely, and professional manner Recreate and diagnose customer complaints using schematics and diagnostic tools Communicate needed parts and supplies to the service and parts departments Complete repairs within quoted timeframes or notify supervisor of delays Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including vehicle and tools Documentation and Reporting Complete all work orders using the 3C format (Complaint, Cause, Correction) Accurately log time, parts, and materials used Ensure daily notes are entered into electronic work order system Customer Service and Communication Interact with customers professionally to explain repairs and equipment needs Perform equipment inspections and suggest additional repairs if necessary Safety and Compliance Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations Maintain field service vehicle in compliance with DOT standards Complete regular vehicle inspections and maintenance Team Collaboration Assist with quoting and estimating repair work as needed Uphold a respectful and honest communication style with customers and team members Qualifications High school diploma or GED 2+ years of experience in diesel, agricultural, automotive, or heavy equipment repair Technical degree or equivalent experience in diesel or heavy equipment preferred Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics Welding and cutting torch experience a plus Must pass or obtain DOT physical certification Strong troubleshooting skills and a high level of initiative Dependable, adaptable, and customer-focused Physical Requirements Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally over 100 pounds Frequent standing, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and overhead lifting Regular use of power tools and diagnostic equipment Work includes outdoor conditions and physical inspection of large equipment
