Electronic Controls Technicians (ECTs) are PLC technicians responsible for all factory electrical, electronic, and equipment controls, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and production efficiency. ECTs modify, troubleshoot, and repair production electronic components including machine controls, robots, HMIs, PLCs, motors, drives, and communication equipment.
They must apply safety standards, interpret electrical circuits, read/edit PLC ladder logic, modify CAD electrical/mechanical drawings, and be proficient with Windows OS. ECTs collaborate with operators to diagnose issues, support preventive maintenance, train operators, and process work orders. They also troubleshoot specialized equipment such as X-rays, AGVs, and vendor-specific controls.

- Schedule: Monday-Friday core hours, some weekends

PRE-REQUISITES
• 2-year Electrical Technician degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong electrical design and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in: RS Linx, RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, FactoryTalk View, DeviceNet, EtherNet, Data Highway, Microsoft Windows, LOTO, 480V troubleshooting, electrical symbols/prints, NFPA 70e.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
• Intellution iFix, Wonderware InTouch, RS Asset Centre, SAP, AutoCAD, Wireless technologies, Motion Controls, Robotics, High-speed cameras, X-Ray, Calibration instrumentation, Checkweighers, Labelers, Electrician certification, AC/DC systems.
PRIMARY DUTIES
1. Install/troubleshoot electrical & electromechanical components (motors, VFDs, sensors, relays). (30%)
2. Maintain automation software, documentation, PLC programs, CAD files.
3. Maintain instrumentation program: install, calibrate, update documentation.
4. Perform control system troubleshooting; communicate project/backlog/safety updates. (10%)
5. Perform electrical & safety compliance checks. (10%)
6. Collaborate on production line improvements. (10%)
7. Ensure NEC, OSHA, NFPA compliance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Sitting, standing, walking, lifting.
• Indoor/outdoor work.
• Good hearing and eyesight; must distinguish wire colors.
WORK FACTORS
• Document material usage; maintain stock levels.
• Perform PMs, repairs, adjustments.
• Supervisor approval required for modifications.
• Complete PM checklists & work orders.
• Train less skilled personnel.
• Attend required annual training.
• No hoarding of prints/parts/records.
• Fully document program changes.
• Work reviewed by supervision.
• Make troubleshooting and PM decisions.
• Assimilate new technologies.
• Work closely with IT, Engineering, E&A.
SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL
• Follow Waverly safety objectives & rules.
• Report incidents and unsafe conditions.
• Support environmental policy, pollution prevention, waste minimization, and energy conservation.
The approximate pay for this position is $37.94. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
