Integrity Educational Services is currently seeking a Full-Time Speech Language Pathologist to serve Lighthouse Academy Schools and Hope Academy of West Michigan!

Integrity Educational Services (IES) is the non-profit educational service provider for Hope Academy of West Michigan and Lighthouse Academy. At our Lighthouse Academy locations, we offer residential programs serving youth and adults in detention facilities, correctional facilities or intervention-based programs as well as community programs serving court-placed students, English Language Learners (ELL), students with Special Education needs, etc. Hope Academy is a general charter school in Grand Rapids, MI serving a large population of ELL and Title I qualifying students.

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) works closely with the Special Education Director and Principal of the school/site in which the student is enrolled to help reduce or eliminate speech and language impairments that interfere with the individual students ability to benefit from his/her educational program. The Speech and Language Pathologist will subscribe to the vision, mission and values of Integrity Educational Services and the applicable academy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs diagnostic evaluations on all students referred for services.
  • Contacts appropriate persons, when indicated, who could provide information which may facilitate diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Consults with each classroom teacher involved with students who will be receiving speech and language services.
  • Sets up a schedule for the speech and language program which takes into consideration the students total academic and non-academic program.
  • Consults with building principal(s) concerning suitable classroom space in which to conduct speech and language programming.
  • Assists, in cooperation with supervisor and special education department staff, in developing all necessary procedural guidelines used in the department.
  • Provides speech and/or language therapy in individual or group settings and disseminates progress reports to parents, teachers, principals, and those supportive service personnel as appropriate.
  • Follows federal, state, and local laws, rules guidelines, and policies.
  • Keeps accurate and timely records, including Medicaid billing logs.
  • Maintains professional competence in field by attending and participating in professional organizations, workshops, conferences, and staff meetings.
  • Assists in conducting in-service training programs to acquaint regular and special education personnel with the needs and ways of working with students with speech/language impairments.
  • Assists in developing all necessary procedural guidelines used in the department.
  • Complies with rules and regulations around Child Fund.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district, policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Makes provisions for being available to students, their parent/guardians, and school staff for education related purposes both during and outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so.
  • Provides consultation and collaboration to students, their family members, and school staff.
  • Supports Strategic Plan and School Improvement process.
  • Focuses on student achievement and growth.
  • Aware of and complies with Policies and Procedures in support of nondiscrimination standards.
  • Proctors testing.
  • Assists with coverage of the eating area during breakfast and lunch.
  • Assists with coverage during arrival, passing time, and dismissal from school.
  • Performs all other duties, as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The minimum qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of the job such as education, experience, competencies, knowledge and skills are listed below.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability or competence required.

Education and/or Experience: Masters Degree in Speech and appropriate SLP licensing; experience with K-12 school-aged children.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematic Skills: Ability to do simple computations, calculate percentages, and use a calculator.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft and/or Google applications and/or willingness to learn needed computer skills specific to this position.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Appropriate SLP licensing

Training: Must participate in and complete annual training, Professional Development, and various other training as deemed appropriate for position.

Other Qualifications: Must pass criminal history records search, physical and drug screen, if required.
