Accountant Manager 14 (Program Support Unit)
This position functions as a first-line professional manager of professional positions in a complex work area. This position serves as the direct supervisor of professional accountants and technicians responsible for performing the complex accounting for MDOT's programs including the accounting and reporting requirements for the Department's $3.2 billion bond program, tagged equipment inventory, and loans and rentals. This position is also responsible for the invoicing and proper recording of MDOT receivables and damage claims, oversees certain annual financial reporting requirements, is responsible for the oversight of payment of the Department's monthly information technology (IT) invoices, and prepares the Department's quarterly employee taxable mileage benefit reports based on the vehicle lease value method.

Required Education and Experience
Education Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.
Experience Four years of professional experience performing or auditing the systematic classification and evaluation of accounting data and the preparation of related financial and managerial reports equivalent to an Accountant or an Auditor, including two years equivalent to an Accountant P11 or Auditor P11, or one year equivalent to an Accountant 12 or Auditor 12.
Alternate Education and Experience
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant Certification may be substituted for one year of Accountant P11 experience. OR
Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of Accountant P11 experience.
