CNC Machinist/Team Leader

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist and dynamic Team Leader to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will oversee the operation of CNC machining equipment, lead a team of machinists, and ensure the production of precise, high-quality components. Your expertise in CNC programming, machine setup, and measurement will be essential to maintaining efficient workflows and achieving manufacturing excellence. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, leadership abilities, and a commitment to safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and program CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines, primarily utilizing Fanuc controls
• Lead and supervise a team of machinists, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback
• Interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards
• Develop and optimize CNC programs using CAM software; modify existing programs as needed
• Conduct precision measurements with calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to ensure parts meet specifications
• Set up tooling, fixtures, and tooling adjustments for various materials including plastics and metals
• Maintain machine calibration using precision measuring instruments; perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues
• Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve productivity and reduce waste
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols; operate forklifts and power tools safely during material handling
• Collaborate with engineering teams on new product development involving CNC machining and assembly processes
• Support continuous improvement initiatives through documentation and process refinement

Requirements

• Proven experience as a CNC machinist with proficiency in programming (CNC programming), setup, and operation of CNC lathe and milling machines
• Strong mechanical knowledge across manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding and welding
• Familiarity with GD&T standards for blueprint reading; ability to interpret technical drawings accurately
• Hands-on experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or general CAD tools for part design review
• Skilled in using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines
• Knowledge of Fanuc control systems or similar CNC controls; experience with CAM programming software is highly desirable
• Ability to read complex blueprints and technical specifications; basic math skills for measurement conversions and calculations
• Leadership qualities with prior experience supervising or leading a machining team preferred
• Valid forklift certification or experience operating forklifts safely within a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency and quality outcomes
