Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Day Shift
Location: Royal Oak, MI 48073
Pay Rate: $55 to $65 per hour, paid weekly
Job Type: 13-week W2 contract assignment with opportunity for extension based on attendance, performance, and business needs.
Scrubs: Provided by facility

Shifts: Full-time (40hrs/wk)

• Days (1st):
• • 9am-5:30pm (8hrs) - Weekends as needed, possible on call
  • 11am-7:30pm (8hrs) - Weekends as needed, possible on call
• Evenings (2nd):
• • 3pm-11:30pm (8hrs) available in Troy, MI - No on call or weekends

Job Summary

The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides professional perioperative nursing care in accordance with the American Nurses Association scope of practice. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN delivers high-quality, patient- and family-centered care during surgical procedures. The nurse collaborates with the surgical team to promote safe, efficient, and effective care that supports positive patient outcomes.

Essential Functions

• Utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge to ensure safe and effective patient care
• Apply Patient- and Family-Centered Care principles to tailor care to individual patient needs
• Work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists during operative procedures
• Prepare the operating room with necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and assist during procedures to maintain safety and efficiency
• Provide quality care that aligns with hospital core measures, patient satisfaction, and fiscal responsibility
• Demonstrate competency in sterile technique, surgical procedures, and the operation of specialized equipment
• Document all patient care activities accurately and promptly
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning as applicable
• Support ongoing learning, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives
• Serve as a mentor and role model for peers and new staff members
• Maintain current knowledge in perioperative nursing and hospital protocols
• Participate in department meetings, committees, and continuing education activities

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an associate degree or higher
• Experience: Two years of recent Operating Room nursing experience preferred
• Licensure and Certifications:
• • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the AHA required
  • Additional specialty certifications such as TNCC, ENPC, NRP, or PALS encouraged
