Die Group Leader – Stamping Operations

Schedule: Monday – Friday (2nd or 3rd Shift – Flexibility Required)

Shift Times:

• 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
• 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM

Location: Onsite Manufacturing Facility

Work Arrangement: Onsite Only (No Remote/Hybrid)

Shift & Schedule Requirements

• Candidates must be flexible to work either 2nd or 3rd shift . Shift assignments may change at any time based on operational needs and salaried employee shift requests.
• Employees are required to report 30 minutes prior to scheduled shift start time .
• Position requires availability to work every other weekend .
• Overtime, holiday coverage, and schedule adjustments may be required based on production demand.

Role Overview

The Die Group Leader supports Stamping Operations by leading die-related maintenance activities critical to production uptime and quality performance. This position combines hands-on die expertise with front-line leadership responsibilities, overseeing skilled trades personnel while ensuring stamping dies are production-ready.

This is a high-visibility leadership role requiring strong managerial presence, deep stamping process knowledge, and effective shop-floor communication. The role supports large-format stamping operations involving major sheet metal and Class A surface dies up to 96" x 180" .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily die maintenance activities aligned with production schedules
• Ensure production-critical dies are functional, available, and ready for use
• Prioritize die issues based on severity, quality impact, and production demand
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of die-related quality concerns
• Coordinate die maintenance windows and changeovers
• Provide hands-on technical support as needed while primarily functioning in a leadership role
• Supervise and direct a team of 7–10 skilled trades employees , including:
• Die Makers
• Machine Repair Technicians
• Electricians
• Conduct daily production and maintenance coordination meetings
• Deliver end-of-shift written lineups and maintain strong shift-to-shift communication
• Partner closely with Production and Maintenance leadership
• Enforce safety standards, housekeeping expectations, and plant policies
• Support SPQRC objectives (Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost)
• Ensure work execution meets schedule, manpower, and budget requirements

Required Qualifications

• 5–10 years of stamping die experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong working knowledge of:
• Stamping processes and die construction
• Large-format dies (major sheet metal / Class A surface dies)
• Automation systems supporting stamping operations
• Proven leadership experience managing skilled trades teams
• Demonstrated managerial courage and ability to make real-time production decisions
• Journeyman Die Maker certification or equivalent hands-on experience
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Comfortable working directly with hourly employees and plant leadership
• Willingness to work assigned shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
• Formal skilled trades training
• Experience in high-volume automotive stamping environments
• Proficiency with basic computer tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, email systems)
