- Reading water meters, discontinuing and restoring water service to customers’ premises, removal of and resetting of meters, perform J.U.L.I.E. locates.
- Installation and/or maintenance of water mains, valves, services, meter settings, fire hydrants, and any other duties assigned by foreperson or management.
- Follow all safety rules and safe operating procedures established by the company; keep accurate time and material records for performance purposes.
- Position requires being on call on weekly rotation schedule.Knowledge/Skills
- Strong work ethic, verbal/written communication, time management, safety consciousness, mathematical, map reading, as well as organizational and team membership skills.
- Mechanical aptitude, including the ability/knowledge to start up, operate, shut down, and make operating adjustments to all equipment as well as be capable of using hand tools and learning water utility terms.
- Must be courteous with internal and external contacts.
- Must be available for after-hours work and other emergencies.Experience/Education
- High school degree (or equivalent) required.
- Experience/Education 0-2 years in water industry.
- Computer and iPad use a plus.
- A valid Illinois non CDL Class C Driver license required with a clean MVR and shall obtain certification(s) as required by the company.
