In accordance with the Agreement between the Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors (OSAS) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced. School-Based, not telecommuting eligible.
Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled analytical and detail-oriented Program Associate I to join our Day Treatment Team. This will consist of working closely with the students, teachers, ancillary providers, behavior specialists, comprehensive schools' staff, district wide evaluation center, district evaluators, behavior data tracking/behavior data monitoring, and collaboration with the various departments and staff throughout the district.
The Program Associate I will be responsible for actively monitoring student referral intakes via Wayne RESA Referral Process, develop a system to maintain the accuracy of Behavior Intervention Plan Progress Monitoring for compliance with federal, state, county, and district mandates. The Program Associate I will build and cultivate relationships with a variety of internal/external stakeholders, perform administrative and technical support for operations, and perform data reporting and analysis. The Program Associate I is responsible for supporting cross-functional initiatives in a diverse and multi-level organizational setting and contributes to the efficient operations of the Day Treatment Program. This position requires knowledge of Functional Behavior Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plans, Positive Behavior Intervention Supports and Activities, and appropriate services rendered by the Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Speech Therapist, Audiologist, School Social Work, and School Psychologist.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree, Master's degree preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of behavioral or administrative experience, previous experience in a special education or behavior intervention preferred.
Knowledge of Special Education, preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE), preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in basic computer skills, operations, and web-based systems
Demonstrated leadership skills in prior professional role(s)
Experience working in urban school system is strongly preferred
Demonstrated analytical skills
Previous experience maintaining student data privacy and security
Essential Functions:
Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly behavior compliance reports of District and ESE Leadership to ensure Day Treatment and Dual Diagnosis intake referrals are processed timely.
Input students' behavior and discipline data into Power School Student information System and Special Programs.
Facilitate processing of purchasing requisitions and assist with logistical resources for incentive, workshops, and conferences.
Perform complex administrative and technical tasks of confidential nature and other duties as assigned by the ESE ACT 18 Executive Director and Principal.
Develop, deliver and lead professional development opportunities through virtual, in-person, and blended learning modules based on data trends and staff needs i.e Positive Behavior Supports and Restorative Practices.
Serves as the school's lead point of contact for responding to student behavior (including both desirable and undesirable behaviors); applies incentives and consequences in accordance with the school's Positive Behavior Support Plan.
Monitors data on student behavior, and acts, as necessary, based on the data.
Provides relevant workshops and other learning experiences for students and parents.
Promotes a growth mindset among students and staff, encouraging increased resilience and a willingness to tackle challenging academic tasks.
Provides and models best practices as a part of the teacher coaching cycle in support of Positive Behavior Support initiatives.
Reinforces school-wide rules, policies, and expectations in and outside of the classroom.
Ensures the rights of all students are observed and protected using appropriate and respectful communication, proper de-escalation techniques, and the use of nonviolent crisis intervention strategies when required.
Communicates frequently and proactively with students' families.
Engages in ongoing learning through regular professional development and collaboration.
Collaborates with school and district administrators on issues related to positive behavior support and school culture.
Sit in IEP meetings as district representative.
Reinforces the school's mission with faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members; exudes excellence, optimism, and a belief that, with the right support, every student can graduate from high school ready for college and for fulfilling careers.
Supports with school supervision as necessary during, before, and after the school day and at special events that may occur outside of normal school hours (i.e. extracurricular activities).
Completes other duties as assigned.
