Key Job Details – Cytology Technician Travel Assignment

• Job Title: Locum Tenens Cytology Technician (Cyto Tech)
• Location: Lansing, MI 48912 (Michigan healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (September 8, 2025 – December 8, 2025)
• Setting: Hospital Cytology Unit & Reference Laboratory
• Shift: Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts/week (07:30 – 16:00, flexible start at 7 or 8 am)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2220–$2280
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens, Travel Healthcare Job
• Orientation: 8 hours
• Pre-approved Time Off: Up to 5 days (must be submitted at application)
• On-call: None
• Weekends: None

Cytology Technician Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Cytology Technician or Cyto Tech
• ASCP-CT (American Society for Clinical Pathology – Cytotechnologist) certification required
• Proficiency in microscopy and ThinPrep imaging systems
• Experience screening Pap smears and non-gynecological cytology cases
• Ability to assist with on-site procedures such as FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration) and EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound)
• Willingness to float between reference lab and hospital as needed
• Proof of high school education (required for allied healthcare candidates)
• EPIC EMR experience preferred (training provided during orientation)
• First-time travel healthcare professionals welcome!

Cytology Tech Responsibilities

• Screen Pap smears and non-gyn cytology specimens using microscopy and ThinPrep imaging
• Assist with FNA and EBUS procedures in the hospital setting
• Float between reference laboratory and hospital cytology unit as needed
• Maintain quality control and assurance standards for specimen processing and labeling
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure accurate and timely cytology results
• Adhere to all hospital, laboratory, and compliance protocols
