Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Job Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
• Location: Flint, Michigan 48503
• Unit: Cardiac Stepdown / Clinical Decision Unit (CDU - 6840)
• Start Date: September 16, 2025
• End Date: December 16, 2025
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020 - $2070

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 1 year recent experience in cardiac stepdown, PCU, or high-acuity clinical settings
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records
• First-time travel nurses welcome
• Ability to float to similar units as needed
• Community hospital experience preferred

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, respiratory, and complex medical conditions
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry; manage cardiac drips (no titration)
• Administer blood products; manage central and peripheral lines; perform tracheostomy and wound care
• Perform IV insertions, specimen collection, and EKGs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Participate in discharge planning and specialty consultations
• Utilize rapid response protocols and adhere to isolation precautions
• Float to similar clinical units to support patient care as needed
