Compliance Operations Administrator
Universal Shield Insurance Group (and its member companies, Universal Fire & Casualty Insurance Company ( and Shield Indemnity Inc.) has an opening for an experienced Commercial Insurance P&C Underwriter at our Dublin, Ohio, Bridge Park Corporate office or our Scottsdale, AZ location.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Under general direction, primarily supports regulatory & compliance operations with agent/agency appointments and terminations, surplus lines broker tracking, licensing, contracts, agreements, and invoicing. Supports development and maintenance of compliance reference material, department workflows, processes, and procedures. Additional responsibilities consist of supporting administrative tasks for the Surety and Bail teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate and communicate with various parties, including state regulatory agencies, courts, agents, producers, and underwriting staff to support our underwriting efforts and take appropriate action within designated timeframes.
- Participate in the company operator functions, directing incoming phone calls to appropriate team channels.
- Distribute company mail to appropriate team channels through email and/or hard copy USPOST/FEDEX.
- Receive, review, and process requests for new agent/agency appointments and terminations for the Bail, Surety, and P&C team channels, as well as tracking/recording of Surplus Lines Broker licenses.
- Prepare and assist as requested agent/agency contracts, agreements, and invoices for the Bail team.
- Support the Surety team by processing bond cancellations and notifying agents, principals, and beneficiaries throughout the process.
- Ensure quality and timeliness of response to agent and customer inquiries.
- Ensure electronic and hard-copy files are accurately maintained in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
- Retrieve and review property valuation reports to aid in the bond underwriting process.
- Develop personal industry skills and knowledge to meet the company’s culture and expectations of continuous learning and career enrichment.
- Perform or assist with other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
- Minimum high school diploma/GED required.
- Two years of Insurance, paralegal, bookkeeping, or mortgage/real estate background preferred.
- Operational knowledge with the Microsoft Office suite of products and the ability to learn new software as needed.
- Detail-oriented and well-organized with good customer service skills in both written and verbal communications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and independently as required.
- Ability to interact collaboratively and collegially with colleagues, agents, and customers in a professional manner.
- Possess or willingness to obtain a Michigan Notary desired.
