The Orthodontic Assistant will oversee and execute tasks to ensure excellent clinical care, including:
- Assist the orthodontist during patient procedures, including bonding, adjustments, and appliance placement/removal.
- Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, equipment, and work surfaces.
- Take diagnostic records, including digital X-rays, photos, and impressions.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene instructions, appliance care, and treatment expectations.
- Manage patient comfort and flow during clinical hours by anticipating the doctors needs.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using practice management software.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols.
- Coordinate with the front office to schedule appointments and manage treatment follow-ups.
- Monitor and maintain clinical supplies, submitting orders as needed to support smooth operations.
- Perform lab work as needed, such as pouring and trimming models, fabricating retainers, and other appliances.
- Assist in managing emergency situations, such as broken brackets or loose wires.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the orthodontic team to ensure high-quality communication and care.
- Participate in morning huddles, staff meetings, and continuing education training sessions.
- Support marketing initiatives, including attending events or assisting with promotional strategies.
- Prepare treatment rooms and ensure instruments and equipment are ready for daily procedures.
- Greet and escort patients to their treatment chairs while providing a welcoming environment.
- Accurately chart and document treatment details during each visit.
- Monitor sterilization cycles to maintain proper instrument cleanliness.
- Assist the orthodontist in executing treatment plans efficiently.
- Troubleshoot patient concerns regarding braces, aligners, and appliances.
- Work with the office team to confirm appointments, process billing information, and resolve scheduling conflicts.
- Maintain clean, organized treatment areas and clinical workspace.
- Support other clinical team members as needed to ensure seamless patient care.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working in a dental or orthodontic office preferred (2 years experience preferred, but not required)
- Strong work ethic - intrinsically motivated

- Reliable transportation and dependability
- Must travel to both office locations - Eastpointe and Southfield as well as other locations as needed by the Doctor
