Are you a skilled Assembly/Weld Technician with experience in fabricating and reading blueprints?

APEX Placement and Consulting has partnered with an exciting company in Sterling Heights, MI looking to add Assembly Technicians to their already amazing team. Their primary responsibility will be to assemble and fabricate vehicle components using tools and welding techniques while ensuring quality and adherence to specifications. What your day will look like:

• Assemble vehicle body components using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment per blueprints and specifications
• Read and interpret schematics and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and prototype assembly
• Measure and verify parts using precision instruments such as calipers and micrometers
• Fabricate, modify, and fit components as needed to meet design requirements
• Perform MIG/TIG welding, spot welding, and soldering to complete assemblies
• Conduct quality inspections and basic testing to ensure product standards are met
• Package finished goods and properly store materials within the warehouse
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and properly functioning equipment
• Program and set up Fanuc MIG welding robots
• Provide production support, troubleshoot issues, and repair failed robotic welds
• Utilize welding processes including RSW (Resistance Spot Welding), PW (Projection Welding), GMAW (MIG), and GTAW (TIG)
• Work with fastening methods such as self-piercing rivets (SPR) and clinching

What we are looking for:

• 2–3 years of Body-in-White (BIW) assembly experience
• Hands-on experience with joining methods:
  • Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) – 2+ years
  • Projection Welding (PW) – 2+ years
  • MIG Welding (GMAW) – 2–3 years
  • TIG Welding (GTAW) – 2–3 years
  • Self-Piercing Rivets (SPR) – 1–2 years
• Background in automotive manufacturing or metal fabrication
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers)
• Experience with complex assemblies involving welding and fabrication processes
• Detail-oriented with the ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced environment
• Prototype or R&D experience is a plus
