Education Assistant
Do you enjoy working with kids and sparking curiosity through hands-on learning? The Air Zoo is seeking enthusiastic Education Assistants to help deliver engaging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) camps and educational programs for students in grades K–8. In this role, you’ll support fun, interactive learning experiences while helping create a safe, inclusive environment where young learners can explore, discover, and be inspired.
About the Role
The Education Assistant supports the Lead Educator in delivering safe, engaging, and mission-driven camps and educational programs. This role helps facilitate daily activities, supervises campers, prepares materials, and contributes to a welcoming and inclusive learning environment aligned with the Air Zoo’s educational mission.
What You’ll Do
· Support the Lead Educator in delivering engaging STEAM camp and program activities for K-8 students.
· Assist with daily program logistics, including setting up materials, cleaning up, and transitioning between activities.
· Lead small group activities and provide support to campers during learning experiences.
· Supervise campers throughout the day, including during lunch, to ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive environment.
· Help maintain organized, welcoming classrooms and activity spaces.
· Communicate supply needs, observations, or concerns to the Lead Educator.
· Welcome families during drop-off and pick-up and contribute to a positive program experience.
· Collaborate with fellow team members to support smooth program operations.
What You Bring
· High school diploma (or currently enrolled) and an interest in working with children.
· Enthusiasm for STEAM learning and helping young learners explore new ideas.
· Patience, positivity, and the ability to engage with children of different ages and abilities.
· Reliability, strong teamwork skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
· Clear communication skills and the ability to give simple instructions to children.
· Basic comfort using technology and educational tools.
Schedule/Work Hours
· Seasonal (Late May/early June through August) part-time positions.
· Camp programs run during daytime hours on weekdays.
· Some evening or weekend shifts may be required for community education programs.
· Flexibility in scheduling is preferred.
Compensation
Non-exempt, hourly position with a starting pay range of $12.50 - $13.75 per hour, based on skills, experience, and internal equity.

Physical Requirements
· Ability to move and organize classroom or camp materials, including lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.
· Ability to remain attentive and responsive in active, sometimes noisy environments.
· Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Ability to bend, stand, walk, and remain active throughout the program day.
