Senior System Engineer

: COMPANY JNA DEPARTMENT JANA System Development LOCATION Plymouth, MI CLASSIFICATION Salaried Exempt REPORTS TO Manager - Sys Dev JTEKT's North American System Engineering Group, located at our Plymouth, Michigan Technical Center, is expanding to meet exciting new business opportunities! We are seeking talented individuals that are motivated, analytical, and experienced to enhance JTEKT's capabilities in the following areas: System Engineering, Functional Safety, Model Based Design, Mechatronics, and Controls. • JTEKT's Senior Steering System Engineers lead special projects and handle new business inquiries for our steering systems
• Participate in technical activities associated with system/part design and development; aid in systematic problem solving; communicate and/or collaborate with cross functional team members or other JTEKT partners, suppliers, and/or customers as necessary. Late night or early morning communication will be required with global colleagues
• Create, review, and release project specifications, schedules, and related materials to ensure the creation of designs which exceed customer expectations (Drawings, BOMs, DVP&Rs, DRBFMs)
• Analyze product data, specifications, evaluations, and validation results as required to provide guidance for success
• The work environment is currently Hybrid, but office/lab attendance depends on needs of the project. Responsibilities performed in a technical facility with labs, testing equipment, and areas of a traditional office environment
• Travel to both domestic and international locations, will be minimal, < 5%

The Candidate:

• This position requires a minimum of Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• 6+ years of professional experience in related field, automotive preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and presentation skills. Will require significant interaction with Japanese and European partners
• High degree of initiative, with ability to make decisions. Ability to work independently or collaborate on a team
• Good planning and organizational skills required to handle multiple project assignments concurrently
• Team oriented, patient, positive attitude, and trainable/strong desire to learn
