Materials Analyst
Our client is seeking a Controller to serve as the financial backbone of a small, fast-growing organization. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and enjoys wearing multiple hats while building scalable systems for growth.
Reporting to the CEO, the Controller will function as a strategic partner and operational right hand to executive leadership, owning day-to-day accounting and financial management while also overseeing office operations and administrative functions. This role is ideal for a finance leader who is comfortable operating at both a strategic and tactical level and who wants to make a direct, tangible impact on a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Controller Responsibilities
Own all accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements; ensure timely and reliable reporting for leadership.
Manage payroll processing, employee reimbursements, and related federal and state tax compliance.
Partner with leadership to develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
Analyze financial performance, identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide actionable insights.
Coordinate annual audits and maintain proper financial documentation and internal controls.
Develop financial dashboards and reporting tools to support data-driven decision-making.
Operational & Office Management Leadership
Oversee daily office operations and administrative functions, ensuring efficiency, organization, and business continuity.
Supervise office and administrative staff; implement scalable processes, policies, and procedures to support growth.
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service agreements; negotiate terms to improve cost efficiency.
Evaluate, implement, and optimize business tools, systems, and technologies (accounting, payroll, office systems).
Support executive leadership with scheduling, coordination, and execution of special projects, meetings, and company initiatives.
Maintain a professional, organized, and positive office environment aligned with company culture and values.
Strategic & People Operations Support
Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on operational planning, financial strategy, and organizational improvements.
Support HR-related functions including onboarding, policies, benefits administration coordination, etc.
Help foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance leadership roles.
Prior experience functioning as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accountant/finance leader in a small or growing company.
Strong financial acumen with hands-on experience using QuickBooks
Proven experience managing budgets, forecasts, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Comfortable operating in a lean, fast-moving environment with competing priorities. Must be able to work independently, as well as with a cross-functional leadership team.
Strong process-improvement mindset with experience building or refining systems as companies scale.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with executives, staff, and external partners.
High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
