MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

An understanding of diet and nutrition
ADDITIONAL SPECIFICATIONS:
Health : The Kitchen Support Staff must be in such physical and mental health so as not to negatively affect either the health of the resident or the quality of their care.
Physical Demands: Lifting (over 25 pounds), bending, stooping, etc. is required. Personnel shall be able to work a minimum of a 40 hour work week.
Language: Language skills are those typically acquired through completion of a high school diploma. Must possess writing skills as typically acquired through attainment of a high school diploma to complete required documentation. Have communication skills necessary to answer the phone, receive and relay messages, and greet the public.
Working Environment: While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee will be subject to the routine use of medically necessary equipment, phone systems, faxes, safety equipment, copy machines, kitchen equipment and other equipment as needed throughout the course of employment.
Knowledge : The Kitchen Support Staff shall have sufficient knowledge to solve unusual as well as commonplace problems. He/she shall have a comprehensive understanding of the population being served, as well as specific treatment knowledge and a thorough understanding of diet and nutrition issues.
Skills: The Kitchen Support Staff shall have skills in the delivery of personal care, daily living skills, medication administration, understanding of aging process, preparation and sound delivery of food service program, and show dignity and respect of older adults.
Judgment: The Kitchen Support Staff shall have sufficient knowledge to exercise sound judgment within his/her area of responsibility and shall be capable of appropriately responding to emergency situations.
Consequence of Error: The task assignments require a level of job performance which may result in serious consequences when an error occurs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Assist cook with kitchen duties as directed.
2. Sets up dining room for means.
3. Assists with serving meals.
4. Interacts with residents in a positive manner.
5. Stays in dining room with residents to give assistance as needed.
6. Records on appropriate form food consumption by residents.
7. Records sanitizer reading on the appropriate chart.
8. Clears dining room after each meal.
9. Washes dishes.
10. Washes tables with disinfectant after each meal.
11. Cleans (wipe up) refrigerator/stove daily.
12. Sweeps dining room after each meal.
13. Assists resident care staff with gathering residents for meals.
14. Deliver or pick up resident meal trays to/from resident rooms when necessary.
15. Assist with resident activities after the completion of meal preparation and clean up.
16. May be asked on occasion to participate in resident outings as support personnel.
17. Assists residents with showers as scheduled.
18. Pass snack and beverages to residents at scheduled times.
19. Provides support to resident care staff on the floor by answering telephones when needed and being available to assist delivery persons, residents and guests when needed.
20. Provide support to resident care staff as necessary to meet the needs of the residents
