The Opportunity
In office role with hybrid schedule. Ally work locations are Charlotte NC, Detroit MI, Lewisville TX, or Fort Washington PA
At this time, Ally will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.The Product Owner for Consumer Payments supports the strategy, development, and day-to-day delivery of digital payment experiences across the bank's consumer payment ecosystem. This role partners closely with Product Managers, Technology, Operations, and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of features and enhancements across products such as Zelle®, bill pay, internal and external transfers, ACH, and domestic wires.
This is an ideal role for someone with payments experience or a strong interest in money movement, who wants to deepen expertise while contributing to high-impact customer-facing capabilities.
The Work Itself
- Create, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog for consumer payment experiences, including Zelle®, bill pay, internal/external transfers, ACH, and wire payments.
- Write user stories that clearly define functionality, requirements, payment rules, exception flows, and customer experience considerations.
- Participate in sprint planning and reviews, ensuring payment-related features are well-understood, refined, and ready for development.
- Make day-to-day tactical decisions regarding payment features, priorities, trade-offs, and defect resolution to keep development moving efficiently.
- Maintain product documentation, including process flows, business rules, payment scenarios, and release notes across all supported payment types.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with UX, Development, IT, Fraud, Compliance, Servicing, and Marketing to ensure payment enhancements meet business goals and customer expectations.
- Communicate progress, updates, risks, and changes to stakeholders across Product, Operations, Servicing, and Technology.
- Understand and measure product performance, including payment success rates, error/exception trends, customer adoption, and operational impacts.
- Champion the Voice of the Customer, advocating for intuitive, safe, and seamless digital payment experiences across all consumer payment rails.
- Perform other Product Owner activities as required, supporting the execution of the payments roadmap and contributing to continuous improvement across the portfolio.
The Skills You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of financial services experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Information Systems preferred
- 3+ years of experience in Product Ownership
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience using Jira for backlog management and sprint execution, and proficiency with Confluence for maintaining product documentation, requirements, and cross-functional collaboration

An individual's position in the range is determined by the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.
