Group/Division

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) plays a critical role in developing advanced long-range technology in collaboration with product divisions and strategic marketing, working on future technology like light sources, lasers, and sensors. We are engaged in the research and development process, and once the technology is mature, we partner with product engineering groups who then build products based on the technology we’ve developed. The Office of the CTO also provides technical input into KLA’s strategic planning process, program reviews and Product Life Cycle (PLC) phases. We provide our broad technology expertise and cross-division experience to ensure we leverage the collective knowledge within our company.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

KLA is looking for a Senior Electron-Optics Research Scientist with our Chief Technology Office in Milpitas, CA or Ann Arbor, MI!

Job Description

• Develop and/or provide significant guidance to the top-level system specifications, sub-system error budget, interfaces and working parameters for the optimum hardware solution.
• Stay up to date on related external research and developments.
• Collaborate with CTO team to develop new suppliers and research partners when appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. or master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Expertise in Electron Optics including Optical System design; Lens Design; and Tolerance Analysis of Complex Optical Systems.
• Knowledge of high voltage electronics, and surface science of electron-surface interactions
• Knowledge in design and modeling of ultra-high vacuum systems
• Ability to work in a clean room environment.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

The physical work location for this role will be in Milpitas, CA or Ann Arbor, MI.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 6 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 8 years

Base Pay Range: $123,000.00 - $209,100.00 Annually
