Occupational Therapist (Pediatric)

This position would be working in a Speech Therapy Clinic setting, working with pediatric patients. This position requires experience working as an OT within pediatrics.

Occupational Therapists Essential Functions:

• Evaluate infants, children, and adolescents with developmental, physical, sensory, or emotional challenges.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and therapy goals.
• Provide therapy to improve fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care abilities, coordination, and daily living skills.
• Help children build independence with activities such as dressing, feeding, handwriting, grooming, and play.
• Use therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment, sensory integration techniques, and play-based interventions.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers, physicians, speech therapists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Educate families on home exercises, adaptive strategies, and developmental support techniques.
• Maintain accurate patient records, treatment notes, progress reports, and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings when working in school settings.
• Recommend adaptive equipment or environmental modifications to support participation and independence.
• Assist children with behavioral regulation, attention, and social participation skills.
• Ensure therapy sessions are safe, engaging, and age-appropriate.
• Advocate for children’s developmental and functional needs within healthcare or educational settings.
• Supervise occupational therapy assistants or therapy aides when applicable.
• Support children with diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, developmental delays, and sensory processing disorders.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and active OT license in Michigan
• CPR certification
• One (1) year experience as an Occupational Therapist (OT) in a pediatric setting within the last five (5) years.
• Good clinical judgement, strong interpersonal skills, resourceful and compassionate
