Salary Range: $62,000 - $95,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and modify precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Repair and maintain existing tooling to ensure optimal production efficiency.
• Operate various machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines, to fabricate components.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine tool specifications.
• Perform precision measurements using gauges, micrometers, calipers, and CMMs to verify accuracy.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling problems, implementing effective corrective actions.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams on tool design improvements and new product development.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completed a recognized Tool Maker apprenticeship or possess 5+ years of equivalent experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in operating and setting up conventional and CNC machine tools (milling, turning, grinding, EDM).
• Expert ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and apply GD&T principles.
• Skilled in the use of a wide range of precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
• Strong knowledge of various tool steels, carbides, and heat treatment processes.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills for diagnosing and repairing complex tooling.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
• Experience with TIG/MIG welding for tool repair and fabrication.
• Knowledge of advanced metrology equipment, such as CMMs or optical comparators.
• Experience in the design and fabrication of jigs and fixtures.
• Understanding of various heat treatment processes for tool steels.
