The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Operate and set up a wide range of manual and CNC machine tools.
• Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications.
• Perform precision measurements and quality checks using metrology equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tooling malfunctions to minimize production downtime.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to optimize tool performance and design.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool construction.

Recommended Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Journeyman Tool Maker or equivalent.
• Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
• Expertise in precision measurement techniques and the use of inspection equipment.
• Strong knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment processes, and their application.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with advanced CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
• Experience with TIG/MIG welding for tool repair or modification.
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
