The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Perform complex machining operations using mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs.
• Interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and CAD models to determine specifications.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with existing tooling to ensure optimal performance.
• Conduct routine maintenance and preventative checks on tools and machinery.
• Operate and maintain a variety of manual and CNC machine tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Ensure all work adheres to strict quality standards and safety protocols.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent vocational training.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Tool Maker in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and GD&T.
• Expertise in precision measurement using various metrology instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills for tool repair, modification, and troubleshooting.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
• Experience operating or programming CNC machinery (e.g., CNC mills, lathes, EDMs)
• Basic welding and fabrication skills (e.g., TIG, MIG)
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes for tool steels
• Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators)
