Precision Assembly Specialist — Grand Rapids, MI
A day in this role
Picture starting your shift with a quick team huddle, reviewing the day’s build plan and the drawings you’ll follow. You gather your tools, stage components, and begin bringing parts together with accuracy and care. Throughout the day, you verify fit and finish, document any issues you spot, and collaborate with nearby teammates to fine-tune the process. Your bench stays tidy, your measurements are exact, and you take pride in sending out reliable, finished assemblies.
What you’ll do
- Build components and subassemblies by interpreting prints, specs, and work instructions.
- Verify quality at each step to confirm products meet internal standards.
- Operate and handle hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.
- Partner with peers and leads to improve assembly flow and efficiency.
- Keep tools, parts, and the workstation clean and organized.
- Escalate defects or irregularities to a supervisor as soon as they’re noticed.
- Take part in training and development activities to expand your skills.
What you bring
- High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training is a plus.
- Prior assembly or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Comfort using hand tools and basic shop equipment.
- Clear communication skills and a team-first mindset.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items as production requires.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn new methods and processes.
