Re-Engagement Coordinator - Lighthouse Connections Academy
- Identify students who are chronically absent or at risk of becoming truant using attendance data and early warning indicators.
- Develop individualized support plans in collaboration with school staff, students, and families to address the root causes of absenteeism.
- Conduct outreach (e.g., home visits, phone calls, family meetings) to re-engage truant students and their families.
- Assist and monitor programs and supports in regard to the Student Engagement Initiative to address students struggling with being chronically absent.
- Ensure adherence to LCA’s student attendance policies by ensuring a deep knowledge and understanding of the state's and school's attendance and absenteeism requirements.
- Lead school-based truancy meetings and coordinate with the school's attendance officer to ensure timely interventions and documentation for high-risk students.
- Independently analyze attendance and academic engagement data to identify students who appear to be stopping coursework without officially withdrawing, and intervene promptly to re-engage or guide appropriate next steps.
- Refine and manage LCA’s graduation tracking system, with the goal of improving both on-time and overall graduation rates.
- Develop and maintain procedures to track students’ next placement when they exit LCA without graduating, including outreach to families and coordination with receiving schools.
- Shepherd and support the full transition process for students who indicate a desire to transfer, ensuring smooth handoffs and documentation.
- Provide case management and monitor progress for re-engaged students.
- Collaborate with school counselors, social workers, administrators, and community agencies to coordinate services and support.
- Lead or support school-based attendance teams and facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Design and deliver professional development for staff on best practices in truancy prevention and student engagement.
- Maintain accurate records, generate reports, and track intervention outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with state and district attendance policies and reporting requirements.
- Advocate for policies and practices that support equitable access to education and remove barriers to attendance.
- Work collaboratively with diverse staff in the planning and organization of student supports, including the Director or Manager of Counseling, Director or Manager of Special Education, Office Manager, and Leadership Team.
- Travel between school sites and student homes as needed.
- Flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for family engagement events.
- Combination of remote work and occasional field-based environments.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in education, school counseling, social work, or a related field.
- Familiarity with restorative practices, trauma-informed approaches, and culturally responsive engagement strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, counseling, or a related field.
- Experience working with K-12 students and families in an educational or social service setting.
- Knowledge of truancy laws, school attendance policies, and student support practices.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication.
