Houze Living is seeking an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to manage the financial operations of our multifamily residential portfolio. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with hands-on experience in multifamily real estate who thrives in a fast-paced, owner-operator environment.

The Full charge Bookkeeper will oversee day-to-day accounting functions, specializing in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance for multiple residential properties, working closely with property management and ownership to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency.

  • Salary: $50,000 – $60,000 annually, plus full benefits
  • Start Date: Immediate start available
  • Schedule: Fulltime Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Location: On-site at our West Bloomfield office 7499 Middlebelt Rd, West Bloomfield, MI

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple residential multifamily properties.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely vendor payments, accurate tenant receivables, and proper coding.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, perform bank and escrow reconciliations, and maintain the general ledger for each property.
  • Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes in accordance with ownership deadlines.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze property-level financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Assist with annual operating budgets, reforecasts, and variance analysis in collaboration with property management and ownership.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, lender requirements, and ownership reporting standards.
  • Support annual audits, tax preparation, and coordination with external accountants and CPAs.
  • Partner with property managers and operations teams to resolve discrepancies, improve financial accuracy, and optimize property performance.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA not required) or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of multifamily or real estate accounting experience (required).
  • Strong knowledge of property accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, RentManager, Yardi, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations and leadership.
