Teacher - Shop/Industrial Arts
TEACHER - SHOP/INDUSTRIAL ARTS - HIGH SCHOOL
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is in a high school Industrial Technology classroom. The facility is both a classroom and a shop for students to experience classes such as Home Maintenance, Exploring Technology (STEM type projects), Marketing, etc.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches district approved curriculum
- Creates a safe and respectful classroom environment for all learners
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology to engage all learners
- Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons and units
- Uses a variety of formative and summative assessments
- Takes a trauma-sensitive approach when working with students
- Communicates professionally to students, parents, and colleagues
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
- Ability to adhere to and teach all students shop / tools safety protocols
- Ability to manage students in a large project-based environment
- Ability to work with community partners for fundraising/supplies/and project ideas
- Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university required
- Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with a TE endorsement or on an alternative path/route to obtain the required endorsement(s)
- Must be highly qualified as defined by the Michigan State Dept. of Education
- Experience working with at-risk youth
- High degree of technology skills (Google Suite)
- Experience/Coursework in MTSS and PBIS preferred, but not required
- Desire to collaborate with peers and work as a team
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Position starts this school year. Wages, benefits, and work year as defined in the Teachers’ Master Agreement
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and background based upon Salary Schedule in the AEA Master Agreement
LOCATION: Allegan High School
