Job Summary:

Mersino is seeking a highly skilled and motivated IoT Systems Engineer to lead the development, integration, and continuous improvement of IoT systems across our pump fleet. This role drives the strategic implementation of connected technologies, partnering with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure telemetry solutions. The ideal candidate is both a technical expert and a systems thinker—capable of designing hardware/software architectures, troubleshooting complex issues in the field, and delivering high-impact solutions that improve performance, service, and customer experience.

Responsibilities:

• System Design & Architecture

• Lead the architecture and evolution of Mersino's pump fleet IoT ecosystem, including hardware design, device firmware, communications protocols, and backend data systems
• Define and enforce standards for data acquisition, message parsing, security, and system scalability
• Vendor and Software Coordination

• Collaborate with third-party developers to build, test, and deploy custom firmware and telemetry software
• Interface with internal and external software teams to integrate data into customer-facing web applications, internal dashboards, and service tools
• Device Integration & Troubleshooting

• Deploy and commission IoT hardware on pump assets in the field
• Resolve advanced technical issues related to cellular connectivity, sensor calibration, and data anomalies
• Serve as an escalation point for unresolved field telemetry or communication failures
• Customer-Facing Support

• Travel to customer sites for advanced diagnostics, installations, or training when needed
• Provide consulting support to clients adopting Mersino's telemetry solutions to ensure smooth implementation and value realization
• Leadership & Documentation

• Supervise and mentor junior IoT technicians or helpdesk roles
• Maintain clear technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, deployment instructions, and troubleshooting workflows
• Assist in budgeting, project planning, and vendor management for IoT initiatives

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in IoT systems, embedded firmware, or telematics in an industrial or fleet environment.
• Proven experience with:
  • Cellular modems, embedded controllers, and telemetry hardware
  • MQTT, or other common IoT protocols
  • Backend systems and architecture (AWS, Azure, or custom stacks)
  • JSON parsing, message queuing, and API integrations
• Ability to read and modify firmware code or work closely with firmware developers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and field troubleshooting experience.
• Effective communicator with the ability to translate between technical and operational teams
• Willingness to travel to job sites and customer locations as required

Preferred:

• Experience in pump rental, industrial equipment, or heavy fleet operations
• Familiarity with SCADA systems or telemetry-specific platforms
• Proficiency in systems architecture or software integration design
