The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Mason that are seeking Tool Makers. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and repair precision tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Operate and maintain a variety of machine shop equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
• Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and CAD models to fabricate parts and assemblies.
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues on existing production tooling.
• Inspect finished tools and components for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for optimal tool performance and longevity.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMMs).
• Strong understanding of various metals, alloys, and their properties, including heat treatment processes.
• Proven experience as a Tool Maker or completion of a formal apprenticeship program.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
• Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators)
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels
• Prior experience in tool design or DFM (Design for Manufacturability) principles
