We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead the financial operations of our organization in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is a long-term contract position requiring strong leadership abilities, expertise in non-profit financial management, and a collaborative approach to support the organization's mission-driven goals. The role involves overseeing financial policies, managing a skilled team, and maintaining alignment with the organization's values and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities:• Provide oversight and guidance to the finance team, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to financial policies.
• Manage and review monthly financial statements, budgets, and audits to maintain transparency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with leadership teams and committees to address financial matters and support organizational goals.
• Lead the budgeting process, particularly during the mid-year cycle, to ensure proper allocation of resources.
• Participate in investment and audit committee meetings, providing insights and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards and practices, tailored to the specific needs of a church-based organization.
• Support the organization’s global work by aligning financial strategies with missionary efforts.
• Utilize financial systems such as Financial Edge and Salesforce to generate reports and monitor financial health.
• Foster a cooperative and approachable work environment that reflects the organization’s values and mission.
• Actively engage with staff and leadership to address financial challenges and opportunities effectively.• Extensive experience in financial leadership roles, particularly within non-profit organizations.
• Strong understanding of accounting practices tailored to religious or mission-driven organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and committees.
• Proficiency in financial systems such as Financial Edge and Salesforce.
• Familiarity with budgeting processes, audits, and financial reporting.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to align financial strategies with organizational values.
• Background in working with multi-ethnic and multi-racial teams or global initiatives.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently while maintaining open communication with leadership.
