Preventative Maintenance Mechanic

Capital Machine & Modern Machinery Company are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Preventative Maintenance Mechanic to join our field service team full-time in Lansing, MI or Grand Rapids, MI.

As a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance on a variety of industrial machinery and equipment located at our customers' facilities. The Preventative Maintenance Mechanic role is crucial in ensuring the optimal performance, longevity, and safety of our customers' machines, minimizing downtime, and maximizing their operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:  

• Execute comprehensive preventative maintenance (PM) schedules on various types of industrial machinery, including but not limited to Accurpress, Safan Darley, HydMech, Marvel, Geka, Euromac, Omax and Peddinghaus machines.
• Conduct thorough inspections, diagnostic checks, and performance evaluations of machines to identify potential issues before they lead to breakdowns.
• Perform routine tasks such as lubrication, filter changes, belt adjustments, fluid level checks, and general cleaning of machine components.
• Inspect and test safety devices and interlocks to ensure proper functionality.
• Document all maintenance activities accurately and completely, including parts used, hours worked, and observations made, utilizing CRM and/or CMMS software.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding maintenance procedures, machine status, and any recommendations for repairs or upgrades.
• Identify and report minor mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues during PM visits and advise on necessary corrective actions.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while on customer sites.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Manage and maintain company-provided tools and equipment.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
• Travel regularly to customer sites, often within a designated service territory.

Job Qualifications:  

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) as a preventative maintenance mechanic, industrial mechanic, or similar role, preferably in a field service environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and in-depth knowledge of industrial machinery components and systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, stand, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned service area.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with specific machinery lines sold by Modern Machinery Company & Capital Machine (e.g., Accurpress, Safan Darley, HydMech, Marvel, Geka, Euromac, Timesavers) or any other metal fabrication machines. (?)
• Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS/CRM).
• Basic understanding of PLC logic and controls.
