The current design team is assisting Brian Bosgraaf, the founder and talented, detail-oriented Architectural Designer. This position will take over those responsibilities by focusing on creating innovative and functional designs for new residential homes, collaborating closely with clients and our in-house team, which includes an Architectural Draftsperson, a Cabinet Draftsperson, and Lead Interior Designers, to bring each vision to life. As the future leader of the entire design team at Cottage Home, you will guide and oversee all design initiatives under Brian’s mentorship, ensuring every project blend creativity, precision, and practicality to deliver homes that reflect each client’s unique style and needs.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Develop conceptual designs, floor plans, elevations, and construction drawings for new homes.
• Collaborate with clients to translate their needs and preferences into creative, buildable designs.
• Coordinate with the construction team to ensure design feasibility, accuracy, and adherence to budget and timelines.
• Select and specify architectural details, materials, and finishes.
• Revise and refine plans based on client feedback and site-specific conditions.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
• Master’s degree in architecture, Architectural Design, or related field preferred, and could be licensed in Michigan (this is not required)
• 3+ years of residential architectural design experience, preferably in custom homes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
• Strong understanding of residential building codes and construction methods.
• Skill in hand sketching and rendering illustrations.
