CNC Machinist/Programmer
Job Description
Job Description
CNC Programmer
St. Clair / Roseville Area, MI | In-Person | $76,000 to $98,000
Join a precision machining team where you can own the programming, support the floor, and help expand high-precision prototype and production capabilities.
Are you a real CNC programmer who can take a model or drawing, build the machining approach, and help get quality parts out the door? This is a strong opportunity for someone who likes working close to the machine, solving problems in real time, and helping turn complex prototype and low-volume work into stable, repeatable processes. Centracore is looking for a hands-on CNC Programmer who can support current milling work while also bringing valuable turning knowledge as the team expands its capabilities.
Why This Opportunity?
- Competitive pay, with a target range of $76,000 to $98,000.
- High-impact role with visibility across the team and real influence on throughput and process execution.
- Hands-on shop floor involvement, including setups, prove-outs, first articles, test cuts, troubleshooting, and operator support.
- Opportunity to work in a rapid prototyping and precision machining environment where every day is not the same.
- Strong fit for someone who enjoys taking parts from print or model to finished production.
- Valuable chance to bring turning expertise to a team that is already strong in milling and wants to grow its lathe capability.
- Immediate need with meaningful work ready from day one.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Taking 3D models and 2D drawings and building the machining approach from start to finish.
- Creating and improving CNC programs using CAM software.
- Supporting setups, prove-outs, test cuts, and first article verification on the floor.
- Troubleshooting programs, toolpaths, dimensional issues, and machining problems in real time.
- Helping move prototype and short-run work into stable, repeatable production processes.
- Supporting operators with program intent, setup guidance, and training.
- Working closely with Gary and the broader team, with Gary continuing to support more of the upfront fixture design and tooling strategy.
- Contributing to workholding, tooling decisions, cutting strategy, and process refinement as needed.
- Supporting a shop environment that is moving toward tighter-tolerance, smaller-batch aerospace and defense-related work.
What You Bring:
- Strong CNC programming experience in a machining environment.
- Ability to work from a print or model and help get the part made, not just edit existing programs.
- Hands-on comfort with shop floor support, including setups, prove-outs, test cuts, first articles, and operator training.
- CAM experience of some kind, with software flexibility and openness to different systems.
- Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, machining strategy, and process development.
- Blueprint reading skills and confidence interpreting dimensions, tolerances, and part requirements.
- Experience in a job shop, rapid prototyping, or low-volume high-mix environment is strongly preferred.
- Turning experience is a major plus, and likely preferred, as the team looks to add that expertise.
- Milling experience is still valuable, especially in the current state of the shop.
- Aerospace, defense, or other tight-tolerance metal machining experience is a strong advantage.
- Strong problem-solving ability, urgency, and a get-it-done mindset.
What Success Looks Like:
- You can take a drawing or model and help turn it into a finished, repeatable process.
- You are comfortable being hands-on and solving problems where the work is happening.
- You help reduce bottlenecks by owning more of the programming and floor-side execution.
- You bring the kind of judgment and pace that supports quick-turn prototype work without sacrificing quality.
- You help strengthen the team’s future turning capability while supporting current milling-focused work.
Your Next Move:
Are you ready to step into a role where your programming ability, shop floor instincts, and problem-solving skills can make an immediate impact? Apply now to start a conversation about this CNC Programmer opportunity with Centracore.
