PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Dayton, Ohio (45409) – Ohio nursing jobs
• Setting: Neuroscience/High-Risk Respiratory Intermediate Care Unit
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
• Start Date: September 22, 2025
• End Date: December 22, 2025
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1950-$2000
• Patient Ratios: 1:4-6
• Unit Size: 36 beds
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

PCU RN Qualifications & Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (any state; compact nursing licenses accepted)
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent PCU or Stepdown RN experience (ICU experience does not substitute)
• Experience with 1:5 patient ratios in PCU or Stepdown settings
• Ventilator experience required
• Must pass online EKG/telemetry competency assessment
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• EPIC charting experience required
• Travel nursing or locum tenens experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Ability to float to other units/campuses as needed
• Available to work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate patient care to adults and geriatrics with neurological and high-risk respiratory conditions (CVA, TIA, seizures, complex neuro cases)
• Collaborate in a team nursing model with RNs, LPNs, and PCTs to optimize clinical outcomes
• Manage and monitor ventilated patients, including heated high flow, BiPAPs, and trach/vents
• Perform and interpret cardiac telemetry and EKGs
• Initiate and manage IVs, central lines, and advanced nursing procedures
• Float to other units as assigned, including high-risk respiratory and Neuro ICU, providing clinical support as needed
• Accurately document all care in EPIC electronic health records
• Adhere to infection control, isolation precautions, and safety protocols
• Participate in orientation and complete required training modules
