Municipal HR Generalist
The City of Birmingham, MI (EOE) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Human Resources Generalist. Under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager, this position provides technical services in the areas of Human Resource administration.
Work is of a professional nature and involves administrative support for all personnel functions. Successful candidates must exhibit independent judgment, initiative, and discretion based on a knowledge of administrative policies and procedures in the performance of daily activities. Work requires involvement in recruitment and selection activities, employee and retiree relations, benefits administration, collective bargaining, employee wellness and appreciation activities, personnel records management, and related responsibilities classified as confidential and sensitive. May perform other duties and special municipal projects as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in Human Resources operations. Experience with recruitment, benefits, and formalized employee relations is preferred.
- Applicants must have the ability to work independently under general policy direction and application, and work effectively with staff at all levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and well-developed PC skills are required. Experience with MS Office and Google Suite preferred.
- Training, experience, or certification in municipal government, employment law, recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations, personnel administration, and labor relations is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
