Responsibilities
DLZ Corporation has a Construction Services Manager – Transportation opportunity to develop a group and grow into a leadership role in Southeast Michigan.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering and construction assignments requiring application of specialized technical expertise performed independent of other personnel, exercise professional judgment in autonomous decisions.
- Responsible for projects and have leadership responsibility for less experienced staff.
- Manage the inspection and testing personnel on multiple projects including QA/QC testing. Coordinate and schedule activities in the field.
- Assist in developing proposals, change orders, budgets, contract management, report review and distribution.
- Reviews new procedures and coordinate new activity startup as required.
- Constructability reviews on Transportation Projects.
- Provide technical support for construction services operations.
- Determine specified testing and inspection requirements from plans and specifications as needed.
- Report results to supervisor or designated on-site client representative
- Maintain all records of test results and daily reports.
- Recognize unusual test results or site conditions, report these in a timely manner. Offer constructive suggestions for possible corrections.
- Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
- Participate in business development and proposal preparation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) required
- 15 or more years of construction engineering experience in Transportation systems and programs required
- Experienced with MDOT and LAP’s - Plans/Specifications/Practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
- Must have the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Valid driver's license and willing to use personal vehicle for job related work, as needed.
