Requirements:

• Candidates must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling and possess the corresponding State of Michigan licensure.
• Must obtain the Qualified Mental Health Professional and Substance Abuse Treatment Specialist (SATS) credentials within 120 days of hire.
• Must possess a CAADC credential, or be on an active, approved registered MCBAP certification Development Plan within six weeks of hire. Upon hire, the application must be submitted for the Development Plan to MCBAP, with or without the trainings, within 30 days of hire, or they will not be permitted to provide services. Documentation of trainings must be submitted with the Development Plan Application or within 90 days of hire.
• Must have the ability to engage adults diagnosed with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders, their families and supporters.
• Must have expertise in helping clients identify their service needs and preferences, helping them build on their individual strengths, resources and supports, and navigate the network of services available at The Guidance Center and in the community.
• Candidates must have the ability to provide trauma-informed care and appropriately handle crisis situations.
• Must be able to use technology competently, demonstrate effective organizational, verbal and written communication skills, and work independently.
• Additional requirements include a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of adults with mental illness and/or substance use disorders, their families and providers.
• Cannot accept candidates who are on student/work visas, and/or require sponsorship to work in the U.S. at this time. The Intake Therapist must have the ability to engage and develop therapeutic alliances with adult, adolescent and children mental health consumers, their families and supporters. Must be an expert in helping consumers identify their service needs and preferences, develop initial treatment plans, and transition to longer-term services based on their treatment plans. Additional requirements include a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of adults and children with mental illness, substance abuse/dependence, their families and providers. Candidates must demonstrate effective organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
