Minimum 1+ years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Supporting students with behavioral challenges in an educational setting requires patience, skill, and dedication. This position offers the opportunity to work onsite within a school district in Detroit, MI, providing crucial paraprofessional support to students who benefit from individualized attention.
The role involves offering 1:1 or classroom-based assistance to students facing behavioral challenges, implementing behavior intervention plans, promoting academic engagement, and collaborating closely with teachers and support staff to foster a safe and productive learning environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering instructional and behavioral support tailored to student needs
- Assisting with the execution of behavior intervention strategies
- Supporting academic activities to encourage student participation
- Collaborating with educators and support teams to ensure positive outcomes and safety
Ideal candidates should bring:
- At least one full academic year of experience working with students who have behavioral and special needs
- Direct experience with behavior management in a school environment
- CPI Certification (preferred)
- Qualification in at least one of the following:
- Minimum 60 college credits
- Associate degree or higher
- Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
Applicants must submit an updated resume and two professional references from managers.
This is a contract position offering 35 hours per week, beginning as soon as possible through June 11, 2026. The role is fully onsite within the district.
