The Opportunity
Directs and coordinates activities of cheese production and sanitation areas in processing raw materials and manufacturing customer specific products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. This permanent position will report to the Cheese Production Manager.
- Assumes responsibility for the total operation of the shift.
- Ensures adherence to production and sanitation schedule.
- Leader of daily crew meetings that include items such as: safety, quality and production.
- Responsible for completed chemical checks and ensuring that the information is recorded in the computer.
- Ensures adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Helps troubleshoots cheese process problems and identifies solutions, which reduce downtime and conserve maintenance costs.
- Monitors cheese process equipment to identify potential errors and develops solutions to eliminate the reoccurrence of those problems.
- Ensures completion of periodic equipment and infrastructural cleaning.
- Utilize GPS principles to create a visual factory when transitioning to and from sanitation using 7 step principles
- Coordinate with Quality to provide verification & validation on product contact surfaces prior to starting operations
- Responsible for running machinery, CIP processes, and troubleshooting problems.
- Creates KPI reports and troubleshoots quality issues.
- Monitors hiring, training of new hires, employee morale and development.
- Ensures adherence to safety principles and practices.
- Directly supervises hourly employees in the milk intake and cheese position.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of MWC non-negotiables.
- Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
- Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Forklift and scissor lift certification and general machine maintenance knowledge is preferred
- Ability to run, or learn to run and troubleshoot all equipment
- Excellent attendance and safety record.
- Desire to grow with the company.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
- Knowledge of SAP software Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Understanding of TPM and similar continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
