Medical Assistant Job Details

• Location: West Bloomfield, MI 48322 (Detroit metro area healthcare job)
• Setting: Hospital-based Urology Clinic
• Employment Type: Travel Medical Assistant assignment
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift: 8-hour day shifts
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• Hourly Pay Range: $13-$16/hr
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $750-$770

Medical Assistant Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical or hospital setting
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with formal clinical externship (160 hours minimum), OR equivalent experience/credentials
• Current BLS certification required
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Experience with catheter changes and procedural assistance highly preferred
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Alternate qualifications considered: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic/EMT with at least one year of clinical experience, or military-trained medical personnel with at least one year of clinical experience
• Nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification preferred (AAMA/CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA)

Medical Assistant Responsibilities

• Perform initial-response patient screening following approved clinical protocols
• Escort patients and prepare them for examination, procedures, and treatment in a hospital urology clinic setting
• Obtain and record vital signs and patient history in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Assist healthcare providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments
• Administer and document medications and immunizations as ordered
• Recognize and respond to medical emergencies
• Monitor and respond to patient requests via phone, Epic Inbox, and MyChart
• Enter orders and medication refills for provider sign-off
• Collect and process specimens; perform CLIA-waived tests, EKGs, respiratory testing, and phlebotomy
• Schedule and coordinate patient appointments and outpatient procedures
• Obtain insurance pre-authorizations and enter referrals
• Educate patients and caregivers on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment plans
• Maintain examination and treatment rooms, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
• Participate in quality improvement programs and other duties as assigned within scope of practice
