Position Overview:
As a Permit Specialist , you will play a key role in supporting installation operations by managing permits, inspections, and regulatory compliance requirements across multiple municipalities.
You will work closely with Accounting, Operations Leadership, technicians, and local municipalities to ensure projects move efficiently from installation through final inspection approval.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Help shape company culture by carrying out agreed upon values; specifically, ethics and integrity
- Maintain all policies, procedures, documents, and customer files to maintain compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws and safety regulations.
- Stay current with changes in Federal, State, and local laws.
- Administering all local permits for installations such as furnaces, air conditioning Units, whole-home generators, etc.
- Knowledge of different local municipalities and determination of jurisdiction based on job location.
- Following the Michigan Mechanical Code and applying for permits based on the jurisdiction. (Whether on-line or mail)
- Schedule Inspections and act as a liaison between customer and municipality.
- Track status of permit applications and Inspection progress.
- Work with electric utility providers to co-ordinate disconnect/reconnects with technicians and inspectors.
- Complete all applicable purchase order paperwork for permits as needed and process payments.
- Resolving all failed inspections and sending correct technicians.
- Able to work a flexible schedule as needed
- Travel as needed
- Education and training duties as required
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by a supervisor
What Does It Take?
- Associate degree in Business Administration or equivalent administrative experience preferred
- Previous permitting, construction administration, or operations coordination experience preferred
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Strong organization and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Reliable attendance and professional accountability
