Automation Technician
Responsibilities
This position, located in Muskegon County, MI, provides manufacturing support for robotic finishing and robotic wax manufacturing equipment, with a key emphasis on maintaining and improving reliability and productivity of robotic equipment.
Pay: $27.75/hr (non-negotiable)
Openings: Multiple openings
Shift: Off-shift position; specific shift determined upon completion of training

Job Roles
- Perspective – Understands robotic equipment and process operations; identifies opportunities to improve reliability and productivity.
- People support – Acts in a leadership role as SPA (Subject matter/Process Area expert) for robotic equipment and process operations.
- Coordination – Works across manufacturing functions to keep robotic finishing and wax manufacturing equipment running smoothly.
- Influence – Supports adoption of programming and process changes that improve robotic equipment performance.
- Organization and structure – Documents robotic programming code and maintains organized records of equipment changes.
- Communication and relationship – Communicates clearly with team members and other functions regarding equipment status and issues.
- Ownership – Takes accountability for equipment reliability and productivity; solves problems with permanent solutions rather than short-term fixes.
- Troubleshooting – Applies methodical troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve automated equipment issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides manufacturing support of robotic finishing and robotic wax manufacturing equipment.
- Maintains and improves reliability and productivity of robotic equipment.
- Programs and documents code for manufacturing robots.
- Acts in a leadership role as SPA for robotic equipment and process operations.
- Complies with all EHS rules required for the work environment.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of one year working in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States (no company sponsorship available).
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in a technical discipline.
- Hands-on experience evaluating automated equipment and processes and solving automated equipment issues.
- Robotic programming skills to refine movement using various controllers.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- PC literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
- Experience using industrial controllers.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical prints.
- Good methodical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment and related issues.
- Organized, with the discipline to solve problems with permanent solutions.
- Robotics programming background and Weld Tech 2 certification (from Shape) work out especially well for this role.
