Join Our Team as a Quality Engineer!

A leading automotive company based in Charlotte, MI, is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team.

The Quality Engineer will report directly to the Quality Manager and the primary responsibilities are as follows, but not limited to:

  • Quality Control & Assurance : Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems to ensure product compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.

  • Process Improvement : Analyze production processes to identify areas for improvement, reduce defects, and enhance overall product quality.

  • Root Cause Analysis : Investigate quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective and preventive actions.

  • Customer Interaction : Act as a liaison with customers to address quality concerns, manage complaints, and ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Supplier Quality Management : Collaborate with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet quality standards and conduct supplier audits as needed.

  • Documentation & Compliance : Maintain accurate quality documentation, including control plans, FMEAs, and PPAP submissions, ensuring compliance with IATF 16949 and other relevant standards.

  • Testing & Inspection : Oversee testing and inspection processes, including the use of measurement tools (e.g., CMM, calipers, gauges) to verify product conformance.

  • Training : Train production staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices to foster a culture of quality.

  • Data Analysis : Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and other data analysis tools to monitor quality performance and drive continuous improvement.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and support new product launches.

Qualifications
  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience :

    • 3+ years of experience in quality engineering within the automotive industry, preferably with a Tier 1 supplier.

    • Experience with IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and SPC.
